I am implementing a new sequence of strategies to help me to attract more peace into my life. The first is to slow down in all aspects of what I do. That is writing, eating, going about chores and also talking. To practice reverence, I need to slow down. It simply does not lend itself to the rushing and busyness of how I move around at times.Taking time to sit in silence and solitude each day requires a change of pace. Being aware of the beauty in nature and observing my surroundings - really drinking them in - to discern meanings and signs, involves a stillness that a gentle, slower more deliberate pace will gift. I am learning that urgency is state of mind that need not be the approach for many of the tasks and responsibilities that I have assumed. I notice how at times I have rushed my sacred quiet time activities. I mistakenly believe that because I am going through the motions I am deriving the benefits, but without reverence I have robbed myself of any positive effect. These experiences are valuable to note, as it allows me to lean into reverence today, to slow down, confident in the notion that enriching my inner life in this way will reap boundless rewards in my behaviour and actions.
