Faith

Allowing faith to guide my course.

When the same trying situations present themselves time and time again, I have read that this a sign that there is something that needs my attention. A light is being shed over an aspect of my character and I am being encouraged to notice. Of course there are just some challenges that stay with me over time and vary in intensity to jolt me into some action or learning. Take parenting for example, my boys and I will always have a familial relationship. As they have grown and continue to grow, the challenges that have been before me have changed over the years. Our relationship has grown in complexity and I have acquired skills through my own experiences and learning from the experience of others. Mistakes have been a feature of the parenting journey. Yet I get up again and again and keep on moving. Constantly in motion, striving to propel forward. There is no mastery of this parenting journey, I simply act, reflect, learn and act some more. Along the way the tools I have acquired, may place me in a position of strength for the next wave, but sooner or later a wave comes that knocks me off my feet. I have relied on Faith for guidance on this journey. It models for me the type of human behaviour that best fits parenting, guiding my behaviour and allowing me to understand my children's behaviour. Prayer has been a constant companion to fortify, motivate and heal my wounds. So with the most recent challenge before me, I turn once more to faith to guide my course, knowing that the right path will be revealed.
