To set goals and strive to achieve them is a practice that is ingrained in me. I can be very rigid in terms of achieving certain things and devote time and resources toward certain ends. I often have to be careful of my tendency to want to do things perfectly. After a time, that striving for perfection becomes my own undoing. I second guess myself or I make a mistake. What results is negative self talk and I become discouraged believing that the goal is no longer attainable. I am learning from the practice of determination that if one path does not work we try another way, we continue the journey toward the goal we have set and have faith in the belief that we will succeed. Success may just look different to what I originally imagined.
