Creativity

Opening up to the transformative power of creativity!

Habitually, I have been accessing and tapping into my creativity to make things, to produce something or provide a service. Seeing the expression of this virtue through a limited dimension. What I have realised most recently is that I can use creativity to move through things that hurt, to be able to change the character of the pain I feel and help me move through something that is hard. It is a remarkable virtue that I realise I was only seeing in one limiting sense and not allowing its power to recreate, refresh and regenerate to permeate other facets of my life. I recently took the time to tap into creativity to shake me out of a negative funk that was brewing over a very small and insignificant misunderstanding. I did a virtues pick in the midst of the negativity. On reading the card, I was able to change the hard feelings of despondency and feelings of unworthiness into amending the mistake, taking action to make something beautiful that in turn served to lift me out of the impending dull drums to a more spacious and lighter plane. It was truly wonderful and goodness knows why it is that I have taken so long to realise the benefits of doing this! Or maybe it is something that I have made a practice of before but never really labeled it as part and parcel of the creative process. My husband prompts me often to see the gift in what is happening. That is a way to jumpstart my brain to move to its creative resources and source something wonderful in the midst of angst and despair. Transforming and recreating negative feelings into positive ones feels hard and insurmountable in the moment, but I am learning that the light if ignited will illuminate those dark places and show forth new and exciting paths to explore. The challenge is that often times the negative space feels good to me although it produces no good. Creativity transforms all that it is allowed to touch. God grant me the courage to invite creativity in!
